[undated, 2008] The real differentiator among these [color sequential LCOS] manufacturers is panel size. A larger panel such as the Displaytech panel typically is not etendue limited and can have higher efficiency when used with larger LEDs. Smaller panels... may have trouble meeting the lumen output targets for pico-projectors.... FLC is also the most mature LCD or LCOS technology in the pico-projector race, in part because Displaytech has produced about 18M FLC-based camera viewfinders.

Ferroelectric LCD enables holographic recording

[Dec 1, 2006] Now, ferroelectric-liquid-crystal specialist Displaytech has announced a new liquid-crystal-light valve for use in generating the optical patterns for holographic-data recording. The SLM (spatial-light modulator), a 1216×1216-pixel array of liquid-crystal cells, modulates polarized light from a blue laser to create the data beam for optical recording in a holographic medium.
